IXUS and ELPH : No more confusion

As stated in the Canon PowerShot SD series page that the PowerShot SD series has various names depended on countries it is sold. This naming might cause confusion among consumers. So, it's a good idea to clearly state which model is similar to which model.

In sum, there are three different naming schemes of the Canon PowerShot SD series. First one is PowerShot Digital ELPH. Another is Digital IXUS, and last scheme is IXY Digital. The cameras themselves are identical apart from the front fascia, according to the parts lists. The Canon model number on the bottom is consistent between marketing names. Below is the table showing equivalent models of PowerShot SD cameras.

PowerShot Digital ELPH Digital IXUS IXY Digital

SD780 IS 100 IS 210 IS

Perhaps, the reason behind this relates to Canon's marketing strategies. By the way, Canon doesn't use different names for just the PowerShot SD series. The line of Canon DSLR cameras is named differently as well. Some countries call it the EOS while some have it as the Rebel.
