Delete or Format

To erase images or data from a memory card, there usually are two ways: deleting and formatting. So, the next question is what the difference is and which we should use?

If you choose to delete, some images or data that are just recently erased may still remain in a memory card. So, you can mostly recover all erased data in your card if you perform the deletion. Note that the recovery image might not have the same quality as the original one.

To format means to permanently erase it. Another point is formatting will well prepare a memory card so it can store data effectively. One suggestion is to format your card every time you transfer all data to your computer. That will make your memory card ready to store new images.
